Dignity Before Profit
Every member is a person first. BEMA's sponsorship model ensures that charitable care reaches the people who need it without anyone knowing who paid for it and without a single donor dollar touching operational overhead.
BEMA is a Florida nonprofit that coordinates access to Direct Primary Care, Eye Care, and Mental Health services for working individuals and families who have fallen through the insurance gap.
BEMA exists so that working families in Florida never have to choose between the care they need and the life they are trying to build.
Our story
BEMA was founded by a group of Florida healthcare professionals who saw the same problem repeating itself every day. Working adults coming in for care they had delayed because the cost was too high. Families making choices between a doctor visit and a bill they could not afford. People who were employed, contributing, and doing everything right, and still falling through a gap that the current system was never designed to close.
They built BEMA to close it. Not as a clinic, not as an insurance product, but as a coordination organization that sits between the member and the care they need and handles everything in between. BEMA partners with independent clinics already serving Florida communities and coordinates access to Direct Primary Care, Eye Care, and Mental Health services under a single predictable monthly program service fee. The mission is simple. No working family in Florida should have to choose between the care they need and the life they are trying to build.
Core values
Every member is a person first. BEMA's sponsorship model ensures that charitable care reaches the people who need it without anyone knowing who paid for it and without a single donor dollar touching operational overhead.
Every dollar donated to BEMA goes directly to funding care for someone in need. None of it covers operations, salaries, or administrative costs.
BEMA does not position itself as a savior. It positions itself as a guide that has already done the hard work of figuring out the system so its members do not have to.
Because health does not come in separate categories, BEMA coordinates access to Direct Primary Care, Eye Care, and Mental Health services under a single membership so members can address their full picture of health in one place.
Coordination model
Most healthcare organizations ask you to navigate the system yourself. Find a doctor. Check if they are in network. Submit a claim. Wait. Follow up. BEMA was built on a different premise. The coordination is the product. When you become a member, BEMA takes on the work of connecting you to the right partner clinic, managing the logistics in between, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
This model exists because the people BEMA serves should not have to become experts in navigating a broken system just to get a primary care visit, an eye exam, or a Mental Health appointment. BEMA handles the complexity so that members can focus on their health and partner clinics can focus entirely on delivering care.
BEMA was founded by a team of Florida healthcare professionals who combined clinical expertise, financial stewardship, and mental health advocacy into a single organizational mission. They built the system they wished had already existed.
